Are your looking to help reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and aging skin. Injectable hyaluronic acid fillers can treat both dynamic wrinkles and deeper static lines.
Here are some of the reasons you might consider getting hyaluronic acid fillers
1. Hyaluronic Acid is a Natural Substance
Did you know that hyaluronic acid is naturally occurring in the body? Most often, hyaluronic acid is found in your joints, where it acts as a lubricant and helps to reduce joint pain. This makes it an ideal substance to use for a facial filler as its a substance that’s already familiar to your body.
2. They Can Help Reduce the Appearance of Wrinkles
Of course, one of the most popular reasons you might look into getting dermal fillers is because you’ve started to notice the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on your face. There are two types of wrinkles you might have noticed: dynamic wrinkles and static wrinkles.
Dynamic Wrinkles
Dynamic wrinkles are the lines caused by repeated facial movements. For example, when you smile, you might notice laugh lines on your cheeks or crow’s feet around your eyes. These lines are not visible at rest.
These lines are best treated by temporarily relaxing the muscle contractions with wrinkle relaxers such as Botox or Dysport.
Static Wrinkles
Static wrinkles, on the other hand, are the lines that are visible at rest. They start to appear over time, due to the loss of elasticity from the depletion of collagen and fat pads in the face. Common areas include the lines around the lips and mouth, neck lines, temples, jawline and underneath the eyes.
Dermal fillers contain hyaluronic acid and are best used to smooth out static wrinkles, helping to combat the natural signs of aging and make you look younger. The amount of hyaluronic acid that our skin contains decreases as we age, contributing to the development of static lines at rest.
Dermal fillers such as Restylane and Juvederm smooth static wrinkles by restoring volume. When injected into the skin, dermal fillers fill wrinkles and creases that have formed. They can also stimulate your body’s own production of hyaluronic acid, which naturally decreases as we age.
3. They Can Keep Skin Looking Healthy
Aside from helping to smooth out your wrinkles, hyaluronic acid fillers give your face a natural, subtle plumping effect.
As a result, after receiving the fillers, your skin will look youthful, giving you a healthy glow. You can also use hyaluronic acid topically, in addition to getting fillers, to keep your skin moisturized and hydrated. However, as a serum alone, hyaluronic acid cannot restore volume in your face.
That’s why using the combination of hyaluronic acid fillers and a topical serum will give you the best results in helping you look young and healthy.
4. The Results can be reversed
If you’re nervous about getting dermal fillers, that’s perfectly natural. Typically, the results of the treatment last between six months and a year. We have had patients come to see us because they went overboard on fillers in the past. Rather than waiting for the filler to wear off on its own, we can dissolve hyaluronic acid-based fillers with an agent called hyaluronidase. Here at Hamilton Aesthetics, we aim to provide natural results, but if you are unhappy with your results, we can fix it!
5. They Are Safe
Injectable grade hyaluronic acid filler is suitable for most patients who are looking to treat visible signs of aging. Injectables are a minimally invasive treatment with little to no downtime. You will want to avoid anti-inflammatories like aspirin and ibuprofen for two weeks before your appointment to minimize the risk of bruising.
The injection is relatively quick. You may experience bruising, redness and swelling at the injection site. We recommend that you avoid vigorous activity for 24 hours, so you will want to get your workout in before coming in for your appointment.
You will want to avoid rubbing or manipulating the injection site after your appointment. If you experience discomfort or swelling, apply cold packs to the area
6. They Can Help You Look More Youthful
If you have a big event coming up, dermal fillers are a great way to turn back the clock. We recommend scheduling your appointment two weeks prior to any event. This allows the filler to settle in and the swelling to go down. Hyaluronic acid has hydrophilic properties meaning that it absorbs surrounding water. The swelling dissipates in the days following your appointment.
7. They Stimulate the Production of Collagen
Similarly, research from the National Library of Medicine suggests that hyaluronic acid fillers can also stimulate collagen production in your body. Like hyaluronic acid, collagen naturally occurs in your body and it is an important protein that aids in the health of your skin, hair, bones, and muscles.
As you get older, your body starts producing less collagen, which can cause you to lose elasticity in your skin and look older. So, the increase in collagen production can make you look younger.
8. They Aren’t Too Painful
If you’ve been putting off getting hyaluronic acid fillers because you’re worried the procedure might be painful, have no fear.
Many dermal fillers include lidocaine to help reduce any discomfort. As a result, many of our patients experience minimal discomfort after getting hyaluronic acid fillers. Additionally, we allow time to numb you topically prior to any injections, mitigating any discomfort associated with the injection.
